Q.

After reading your advertisement for admissions it was difficult to understand the details regarding the amount of money to be sent by Demand Draft to the FTII.
A.
1) You can collect a copy of the prospectus in person from the FTII after : ( 21st Jan. 2013)
2) Fill the form and send by post, you will need to pay the total fees ( Rs. 2150/- for General / OBC [Non Creamy Layer] Candidate and Rs. 650/- for SC/ST Candidate/Economically backward candidate) all at once in a single demand draft.

Is there any age limit for entry to any of the regular course at the FTII?
A. No, there is no age limit.

Q.

Is there a system of placement for candidates after they have completed their studies at the FTII?
A. T he FTII does not conduct any placement services nor can the institute guarantee any employment.  However the network of FTII alumni is very active all over the country (especially in Mumbai) and that helps students finding employment after completion of their studies.

What are the courses of study offered at the FTII?
A. The courses of study currently available at the FTII are broadly divided into regular courses and short-term courses. The regular courses for which there is an entrance examination are as follows:
1. Three-year diploma course in Film and Television with specialization in Direction.
2. Three-year diploma course in Film and Television with specialization in Cinematography.
3. Three-year diploma course in Film and Television with specialization in Editing.
4. Three-year diploma course in Film and Television with specialization in Sound Recording & Sound Design.
5. One-year certificate course in Television with specialization in Direction.
6. One-year certificate course in Television with specialization in Electronic Cinematography.
7. One-year certificate course in Television with specialization in Video Editing.
8. One-year certificate course in Television with specialization in Sound Recording and Television Engineering.
9. Two-year post-graduate diploma in Acting.
10. Two-year post-graduate diploma in Art Direction and Production Design.
11. One year post-graduate certificate course in Feature Film Screenplay Writing.

Q.

When and where are the application forms for the regular courses available?
A.

For the year 2013 admission, advertisement has been already published in all major newspapers. Thereafter candidates may request the prospectus by post, fill in the application form etc. and post it back to the FTII as instructed in the prospectus. In addition you can fill up the form online at www.ftiindia.com


Q.

What is the admission process for students from Afro-Asian and other countries?
A. Candidates from Afro-Asian countries need to pass an English Language test at the Indian Embassy in their respective countries.  They should also check the availability of ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) scholarships with the local Indian Embassy staff.

What is Sound Recording?
A. Sound Recording involves the technical and creative aspects of recording sound for different media.  Please see the current prospectus for details.

Entrance Exam will be held on 19th May 2013 at various centres.

Agartala, Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Deharadun, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, New Delhi, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Thiruvananthapuram.
The interview will be held at FTII Pune at a date to be declared later.

In what newspapers can one expect to find the advertisement for admission to the regular courses?
A. The advertisement has appeared in at least one vernacular newspaper in each state and also in Employment News (Hindi and English).

Where can I find the details of the short courses?
A. Is there a course in Choreography?
A. No. Currently there is no such course.

What are the numbers of seats for each of the courses?
A. Please see the prospectus for details on the number of seats available for each of the courses. .

Q.

Are there any reserved seats?
A. Yes. 15 % of the total seats are reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, 7.5% of the total seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribes and 27% of the total seats are reserved for the non-creamy layer of the Other Backward Classes (OBCs.) 3% of the total seats are also reserved for persons with disabilities in accordance with Government policy. Applicants applying under these categories should declare this in their application forms.

How long does the admission process take?
A. The entrance examination (a written test) will be held on the (19th May, 2013) for all the regular courses. Other details will be placed on the website as and when available.

Are there any books that can be used to prepare for the entrance examination?
A. No.

A. No.
