Concept Note: Screenplays are an important part right in the beginning of the Filmmaking process. But where do screenplays begin? How does an idea take form and evolve into a story? What makes a good story? How do we go about telling it in cinematic language? This course will take you through this entire process of Idea to Story to Screenplay. Writing a story is a more intuitive process. Whereas, writing a screenplay is a blend of both art and craft of screen writing. In this short course we will take you from having an idea to actually writing a screenplay for a short film. While we will learn the basic elements of the craft of screenplay writing for feature films. The course takes the new writer through the entire process of writing including defining a premise, a step outline, a treatment and then the actual screenplay.

How to apply: Take a print-out of application form, fill all the details along with Writing details (with write ups on all 3 points mentioned), attach copy of Degree certificate and a valid Demand Draft of Rs 25,000/- drawn in favour of “Accounts Officer, Film & TV Institute of India, Pune”, payable at Pune, and deliver it in person or by Speed post/ Courier to,

On the left corner of the envelope, please write, “Application for Weekend Foundation Course in Screenplay Writing”. Incomplete applications or applications received without demand draft or without Writing details (with write ups on all 3 points mentioned) or received after due date & time will be summarily rejected.

Medium of Instructions: English – Hindi.

Selection criteria: All the applications will be presented to course screening committee. The screening committee will select the participants based on the merit of writing details submitted along with the application. All the shortlisted candidates would be communicated by email. Once admission is offered, the same cannot be cancelled. Course fees of all short listed candidates will not refunded whatever the circumstances. Demand Draft of all non – short listed candidates would be returned within 10 days from the date of commencement of the course.

Certificates: Participants would be given certificate on successful completion of the course subject to minimum 90% attendance.
